Proper Use of Condom

Condoms are most effective if you follow these steps.

  • Use a new condom each time you have sexual intercourse.
  • When opening the condom wrapper, be careful not to poke a hole in the condom with your fingernails, teeth, or other sharp objects.
  • Put the condom on as soon as your penis is hard (erect) and before any sexual contact with your partner.
  • Before putting it on, hold the tip of the condom and squeeze out the air to leave room for the semen after ejaculation.
  • If you are not circumcised, pull down the loose skin from the head of the penis (foreskin) before putting on the condom.
  • While continuing to hold onto the tip of the condom, unroll it all the way down to the base of your penis.
  • If you are also using the condom as birth control, make sure your partner uses a spermicide according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • If you want to use a lubricant, never use petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline), grease, hand lotion, baby oil, or anything with oil in it (read the label). Oil (or petroleum) can weaken the condom, increasing the chance that it may break. Instead, use a personal lubricant such as Astroglide or K-Y Jelly.
  • After ejaculation, hold onto the condom at the base of your penis and withdraw from your partner while your penis is still erect. This will keep semen from spilling out of the condom.
  • Wash your hands after handling a used condom.

Symposium in MDG's

Last week during the DevCom days we had a symposium at the little theater. It's a very nice activity because we gain more knowledge about the MDG's and the facilitators shared their experiences while they are working with the marginalize people. I feel inspired by the people who are dedicated to make this goal possible i want to imitate them. I am happy also because their are lots of student who attended the symposium. The more number of people who know the goals the greater of chances in terms of spreading the word.

Facilitating Activity

We are task to have a 15 minutes presentation to our MDG's. At that time, i feel very tired because of the gloomy weather and i'm having a hard time organizing my report. I didn't make the activity during our laboratory work i make it as an assignment to be presented next meeting. After our laboratory class i went immediately to our apartment to make the outline of my presentation. I surf to the net to gather some information and resources. While reading all the article in the net my understanding in my topic HIV/Aids grows more bigger and i'm starting to love my topic. I pity the people who are victims of this disease because they are suffering. I want to help them. I borrow some materials from the net on how to prevent the disease and to have a safer sex and finally when its my turn to discuss my presentation i just said those important points. I think my presentation was good. My objectives in my presentation is:

  • to prevent the spread of HIV/Aids.
  • to help control and add on the awareness of the people about HIV/Aids.

Goal 6: Combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other major diseases

I chose this topic because it is interesting. HIV/Aids and malaria is related because when this two disease hit you, they have the same attack to your body. The target is the White Blood Cells. If our body run out of WBC it will lead us to death. Malaria is one of the world's most common and serious tropical diseases, is a infection transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. While HIV/AIDS is deadly disease, without a cure, of the human immune system due to infection by a virus. I focus more on HIV/Aids because there are large number of people who are victims through this communicable disease. Primarily, we get this disease through sex. We have to be careful within our selves, we might be infected. I want to help the world campaign by spreading the MDG to the people around me in the community in my own very simple way and to let other people more aware. By this action,I can contribute to minimize the spread of the disease.

The target is, by 2015, to have halted and begun to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS worldwide. The same target has been set for malaria and other major diseases.
